The Story Behind the Weave:
This rug was handwoven by Fadma.
Fadma belongs to the Anzal weaving association. Located a few kilometers north of the popular weaving town of Tazenakht, the weaving tradition in the village is nurtured by the woman passing the skills down from generation to generation.
Fadma is the third generation to belong to the association.
Spending 6 weeks on this Flatweave, Fadma used from 100% live wool, which was brushed, carded, spun and dyed by hand.
While the black is all natural, undyed wool the dark brown is derived from a mix of wild plants and florals.
The ever-growing pattern is a modern twist on the simplistic checkerboard pattern.
