The Story Behind the Weave:This vintage rug is over 20 years old and comes from Kerbia, the leader of the Timnay Association. Originally from Tiouine, a village located 20 km southeast of Ouarzazate, she now lives in Taznakht with her husband and three children. Made of 100% wool from the local sheep of the village, Kebira carded, brushed and spun the wool by hand. She then used local plants, spices and herbs to dye the wool. The outer border is thought protection from evil while the middle symbol represents a razor which is a symbol of respect in the Amazigh culture.
You will find some light fraying on either end, that said, with proper care this rug will endure for decades to come.
