The Story Behind the Weave:
This Glaoui was woven by neighbors, Latifa & Rokia.
Latifa & Rokia belong to a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht.
These weavers belong to the Khzama tribe which specialize in the Glaoui style. It is an extremely technical weave and took the two artisans 4 weeks to complete. This weave incorporates three techniques: Hand-weaving, hand-knotting and hand-embroidery.
Woven with 100% live sheep’s wool, the colors are created with natural vegetables and spice blends.
While the majority of the weave is flat, the two large stripes in the middle have a slightly higher pile, giving this piece texture and dimension.
