The Story Behind the Weave:
This rug was handwoven by Meriem, pictured, and her sister.

Meriem belongs to the Anzal weaving association. Located a few kilometers north of the popular weaving town of Tazenakht, the weaving tradition in the village is nurtured by the woman passing the skills down from generation to generation.

Meriem is the third generation to belong to the association.

Spending 3 weeks on this Grid Hand-Knot, Meriem and her sister used 100% live sheep's wool, which was brushed, carded, spun and dyed by hand.

The blue-ish color hue was derived by undyed black wool that was left to bake and fade in the sun to create this unique blue hue.
