The Story Behind the Weave:
This Hanbel rug was handwoven by Naima.

Naima is the oldest daughter of Fatima, pictured with Naima’s son Mohammed.

Naima was taught how to weave by her mom and is now the family member passing on the tradition of weaving to the younger members of the family.
The whole family weaves and works together in a small village outside of Tazenakht.

This indigo Hanbel took Naima three months to complete. Using 100% live wool and all natural spices, this piece is absolutely breathtaking. The rug’s base color comes from naturally dying the wool blue from an indigo stone, and the symbolism hand stitched and embroidered into the weave comes from henna, pomegranate, saffron, alfalfa and mint.
