The Story Behind the Weave:
This flatweave was handwoven by a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht.
Mlouka, the matriarch of the collective, has passed the art of weaving down to her daughters, daughters-in-law, cousins, and villagers. Pictured is Naima, Mlouka's eldest daughter.
This rug was made from 100% live wool that was brushed, carded, and spun by the women of the association. The dye was a combination of indigo stone for the blue and pomegranate skin for the red.
