The Story Behind the Weave:
This rug was woven by Moulouda a little over six years ago.
Moulouda belonged to the Ouaouzguiti Association. While Moulouda passed away five years ago, Fatima (pictured) told us about her life and the association that she wove for.
Moulouda and Fatima are both from the Tiouine village, this group of women have joined forces with nine other villages in the surrounding area to make up an association of weavers that has been around for eight decades.
Made of 100% wool from the local sheep of the village, Moulouda carded, brushed and spun the wool by hand. She then used local indigo stone to create the mottled blue hues.
This simplistic design, brought to life by a craft that's been around for centuries, will add timeless beauty to your home.
