The Story Behind the Weave:Morocco has extended its quarantine until the middle of June. And while we feel lucky our team of weavers are safe & healthy, it means we can’t currently visit their homes. So, we're introducing a new way to buy never-before-seen rugs. We’re calling it Artisan Selects. We’ve asked our artisans to take pictures and share some of their favorite weaves. This rug comes from 5 women who reside in a village 20 km outside of Amizmiz which is based in the Al Haouz Province of Morocco.Resting in the High Atlas Mountains this province is home to the Boujad tribe and the rugs that are crafted in this region take on the tribe namesake. These rugs are hand-knotted using sheep’s wool and vibrant dyes. Saida and her sister Khadijah, pictured, have recently started a village association of women weavers to help their elder neighbors sell their beautifully handcrafted rugs.
