Fatima, Mlouka & Naima's Faded Indigo Hanbel

While this rug is sold, this was made to test out a variation for one of our existing rug designs. Mlouka's Indigo Hanbel is available to customize in any size you may need.

Size: 5'-9" x 7'-6" (1.77 x 2.30 m)
Rug Style: Hanbel
Pile: Flat with small pile dispersed throughout
Materials: 100% live sheep’s wool, organic spice blends for dye

The Story Behind the Weave:
This Hanbel was woven by mouther-daughter team, Fatima, Mlouka & Naima.

Mlouka is one of the leaders of a collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht.
She's the matriarch of the collective and has passed the art of weaving down to her daughters, Fatima & Naima, daughters-in-law, cousins, and villagers.

Using 100% live wool and all natural spices, this piece is absolutely breathtaking. The rug’s base color comes from naturally dying the wool blue from an indigo stone, and the symbolism hand stitched and embroidered into the weave comes from henna, pomegranate, saffron, alfalfa and mint.
