The Story Behind the Weave:This vintage Beni Mguild was woven by and belonged to Hajah Houriya and her daughter.
Hajah Houriya and her family reside in Azrou, a village located on the northern-end of the Middle Atlas Mountains, just south of the well-known city of Fez. This vintage rug was made of 100% wool and dyed with only natural spices.
This rug style is know for its seasonal versatility. During the cold winters of the region locals would use the thick, wool pile to keep the houses warm yet during the warm months when extra warmth was no longer needed they had the ability to flip the rug over to use the flat side.
With simple geometric diamond shapes against bold colors these pieces radiate beauty.
You will find some light fraying on either end due the rug’s lifespan, but with proper care, this rug will endure for decades to come.
