The Story Behind the Weave:
This rug was handwoven by Malika who belongs to a female only weaving association located in the southeast of Morocco.

This piece consists of 100% "live" wool, which was carded, brushed and spun by the women of the association. The rug’s colors come from naturally dying the wool using various spice and vegetable blends.

In more traditional vintage rug design, the symbolism is often a wish or depiction of the artisan’s life. These days, the next generation of artisans finds inspiration in other sources, like the natural landscapes around them. For example, the four outer  hourglass-like symbols represent a nose—a symbol of protection in the Amazigh culture.

Details like this give Malika's natural weave character that will shine in any home.
