Immerse yourself in the Salam Hello community. Join us in Morocco for a first-of-its-kind, fully guided tour experience. You will meet artisans from our community, experience their traditions firsthand, and even weave alongside them. We will take you beyond the tourist’s first glance to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of this rich culture.
Join us for an expertly curated, one day excursion. We will meet in Marrakech and travel East, toward the High Atlas Mountains, where an array of Amazigh villages are nestled. We will head out on a small hike through the countryside and visit a local village, where you will sit with the artisans and watch as they weave at the loom. You will enjoy a traditional home-cooked meal with the lead artisan before heading back to Marrakech, where you will tour our finishing studio to see and shop the finished products.
Looking for a longer trip? For a minimum of three days, we will design a customized tour of Morocco, just for you. Immerse yourself in the weaving tradition, food, and culture with guided workshops alongside Salam Hello artisans. As we travel through Morocco, usually unseen by visitors, we will share a true glimpse into Moroccan life — from the Amazigh villages near Ait Ben Haddou, to the luxury camps of the Sahara Desert.
Looking to make your artisan tour even more memorable? Sit alongside our artisans as you craft your own, one-of-a-kind rug. We will work together to coordinate your artisan tour with the production of your custom rug and you will join us for a hands-on workshop series. From the preparation of the wool to the knot of the loom, learn the ins and outs of this centuries long tradition, while you enjoy the culture, cuisine, and splendor of Moroccan daily life.
Meet Us In Marrakech Day Trip
Our Meet Us In Marrakech Day Trip can be lightly customized to fit your schedule and any special interests. Below is a sample itinerary of the day trip:
Meet us in Marrakech: We will pick you up from your accommodations. From there, we will head East toward the High Atlas Mountains. Halfway between Marrakech and the mountains, we will stop at a junction point, where an array of Amazigh villages are nestled.
From this junction point, we will take a small, scenic hike through the countryside to visit a local village. There, we will meet Salam Hello artisans and get a peek behind the scenes as they weave at the loom.
After our artisan visit, we will enjoy a home-cooked lunch before departing the village.
We will make our way back to Marrakech, where we will end our day with a visit to Salam Hello's city studio. Here, it all comes full circle as you touch and browse the finished rugs in our collection. Perhaps you will even find the perfect piece to bring home alongside your priceless memories.
Create A Bespoke Artisan Tour
Our Bespoke Artisan Tours are carefully customized and designed to meet your interests and schedule. Below is a sample itinerary for a week long trip, to give a sense of what a week-long tour would look like:
Upon your arrival in Marrakech, we will meet you and take you to your riad — a traditional Moroccan home with a courtyard. We will have tea on a rooftop in the souk and enjoy dinner at the riad with a view of the hustling square below.
We will depart Marrakech and head towards Ait-Ben-Haddou. We will cross the Tichka Pass through the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will have the chance to visit one of the oldest villages in the foothills of the biggest forest in the Atlas Mountains — Kasbah Ait-Ben-haddou.
We will spend the third day with the Salam Hello artisans. We will sit with the weavers and help them card their wool, hand-spin yarn, and weave it into a rug in progress. After helping the women, we will sit down for a homemade meal of couscous. After lunch, we will head to another family of artisans, where we will watch as mother and daughter work on a rug. We will have afternoon tea before heading to the town of Agdz, to enjoy the sunset.
Today we will head to the Sahara! We will cross the Ziz River and pass a series of fortified villages with outstanding pre-Saharan architecture. We will end the day riding camels to reach our nomadic camp in the desert. We will admire the stunning sunset over the huge sand dunes and you will have the evening to spend time walking the majestic dunes yourself.
After watching the sunrise over the Sahara, we will continue our scenic drive to the inspiring Todgha Gorges near Tinghir. The Todgha Gorge is a 300-meter-deep fault that splits orange limestone into a deep ravine. The road from Tinghir passes green palmeraies and Amazigh Villages. We will have lunch with an artisan collective and admire the rugs of the village.
After breakfast, we will drive along the scenic route of the Valley of the Roses. We will stop in the quaint Village of El Kelaa, known for its rosewater products. We will visit a local cooperative before making our way back to Marrakech.
Finally, we will enjoy a full day exploring Marrakech with our local guides. We will visit the legendary souks, craft markets, and architectural wonders. We will end the day eating like locals with a street food tour. You will learn the secrets of Moroccan cuisine at traditional Moroccan restaurants and street vendors.
After a full week, we will send you home with memories to last a lifetime — and maybe a rug or two!
