The Story Behind the Weave:This vintage Berber rug is over 50 years old. Aisha was visiting her family in the northeast of Morocco on the day we visited, but her association colleagues told us the story of this vintage piece. This rug has super unique dimensions as it was designed for the long and narrow hallways of the Kasbah outside of Anzal. This Kasbah is extra special: not only is it three floors (very rare), but it’s also an “Agadir,” which is a type of bank. This vintage rug was made from 100% sheep’s wool. While the black is natural, the red is a combination of henna and pomegranate and the orange color comes from saffron and pomegranate. As it’s 50 years old, you will find some light fraying on either end due to its vintage style.
