The Story Behind the Weave:This one-of-a-kind rug vintage Beni was handwoven by the elders in a small village in the Zat Valley, one of the most photogenic valleys in Morocco.
This rug style, known as Beni Ourain, is named after a region that includes 17 Amazigh tribes, all living among the Atlas Mountains. This is the most commonly known style of Moroccan rugs, while they usually share geometric design elements, each tribe has their own signature style. While modern Beni Ourain contain large trellis design elements, this vintage rug depicts a border that is thought to represent an Amulet which symbolizes good luck and is thought to bring protection. The repetitive elements in the middle of the rug represent scissors which symbolizes respect. This piece was woven with 100% "live" wool, which allows for healthier and stronger wool.
It feels just as cozy, plush and soft as it looks.
