The Story Behind the Weave:This rug was woven by Fatima who lives in village southeast of Ouarzazate.Fatima and her village, Tiouine, have joined forces with nine other villages to make up an association of weavers that has been around for decades.
This rug technique is a named Boucherouite (pronounced boo-shay-reet) - this style is made of various recycled clothing and textile scraps. These rugs were not originally intended to be sold as they were mostly used in the weavers’ own homes.
This timeless piece represents generations of tradition and symbolism.
Due to the age of this piece, you will find some light fraying on either end as well as inconsistencies in the width of the piece. With proper care, this piece will continue to charm for many years to come.
