The Story Behind the Weave:This Flatweave was woven by Jamilla and Rahma, a mother and daughter, from a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht. Jamilla and Rahma wove this piece with 100% live wool which was carded, brushed and spun by the ladies in the collective. This Flatweave is made from undyed, naturally colored wool.In more traditional vintage rug design, the symbolism is often a wish or depiction of the artisan’s life. These days, the next generation of artisans finds inspiration in other sources, like the natural landscapes around them. For example, the repetitive, rhythmic symbols are thought to represent the Anti-Atlas Mountains sits in the backyard of the village. This one-of-a-kind Flatweave with Zanafi accents juxtaposes traditional craft and contemporary design.
