The Story Behind the Weave:The Association Le Vieux village is a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht. This 35 year-old rug comes from a family that lives in a remote village outside the town of Zagora. The warm red colors come from the use of henna and pomegranate dyes. A blend of henna and saffron created the orange hues, and the pop of blue comes from indigo. One telltale way to spot vintage rugs is by their odd shapes. Rugs like these—long but smaller in width—were made to fit the old Kasbahs of Morocco. You will find some light fraying on either end due the rug’s lifespan, but with proper care, this piece will endure for decades to come.
