This intricate rug was woven by the elders of the village of Ait Tigga.

Aït Tigga is located about 29km east of Anzal. Anzal is home to a female weaving association that has many family ties to the village of Aït Tigga. Up until 2021 the only way to travel to Aït Tigga was via an off-road route. With their lack of access to the outside world they would usually send their finished rugs to the women of Anzal to sell

This rug combines two styles.

The ends represent the Kharita ("map" in Arabic) technique. This complex weaving style consists of a labyrinthine of geometric shapes that has the same design on both sides which allows this rug to be reversible.

The middle of the rug is a Zanafi. This weaving technique comes from the High Atlas Mountains. This technique is extra special as it's reversible and the symbols become inverted depending on the side.

Woven with 100% live sheep’s wool, the colors are created with natural vegetables and spice blends - ingredients like henna, pomegranate skin, saffron, indigo and mint to name a few.

Aït Tigga is a Village located about 30 kilometers east of the Village Anzal. Up until a year ago, Aït Tigga was only accessible via an off-road route, so the artisans of the Village would send their rugs to the women of Anzal to sell on their behalf. Thanks to a new road, the artisans of Aït Tigga are now able to sell independently. This collective of 12 artisans weave a variety of rug styles, but their specialty is called Kharita ("map" in Arabic). This complex weaving technique consists of a labyrinthine of geometric shapes and has the same design on both sides, making the rugs reversible.
