Atlas Form is inspired by Morocco’s shifting topography, where desert meets mountain and ancient pathways bend with time. Each piece traces the fluid lines of nature, from dunes and canyons to hillside kasbahs, in a palette of burnt sienna, olive green, sun-faded taupe, and clay red.

Ridge draws inspiration from the contours of the Atlas Mountain ranges, where slopes rise and fall in rhythmic succession, creating bold natural lines across the horizon.

Handwoven in the Middle Atlas village of Beni M’rirt by artisans led by Soukina, these rugs continue her late mother’s legacy of excellence in dense medium to high knot techniques. Made from 100% live wool and dyed with natural ingredients by a third-generation family, each piece carries rich, sustainable color and plush texture.

Each rug is crafted entirely by hand, which means there may be small variations in pattern, color, and size (up to 10 cm / 4” variation) due to the organic nature of the materials. We strive to capture the details and colors as accurately as possible so you know exactly what to expect.

- Time to Make: Current weave time averages around 8-10 weeks. Rugs larger than 9' x 12' may take an additional 2 weeks. We do our best to visit the artisans every 2 to 3 weeks to capture the progression of the weave.

Rug Style

Medium to High Hand-Knot

There are many varieties of a rug that contain a Medium to High Hand-Knot—Boujad, Azilal, Beni Ourain, Beni M'Rirt, and Marmoucha, to name a few. While they may have similarities, the knot technique varies depending on the region or tribe the rug comes from.

The majority of these rugs come from the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains. The local sheep in these colder climates have a thicker coat to sustain them during the winter months, which impacts the thickness of the wool, and in turn, contributes to the height of the pile.
