The Story Behind the Weave:
This rug was woven by a group of artisans who reside in a village just outside of Beni M'rirt which is located within the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Pictured is one of the senior members of the association.
The traditional Beni M’rirt rug contains a thick knot which allows for their rugs to feel extra plush.
Made up of 100% wool and natural dyes, this wool was dyed using a unique dyeing technique. Utilizing a blend of florals & spices the women dyed this wool in bunches which allows for various blue, purple, and grey hues throughout the weave.
The simplistic pattern and intricate dyed wool makes this piece a true one-of-a-kind piece of art.
