This vintage hand-knot rug was woven by and belonged to a family residing in Guigou.
Guigou Valley is located in the heart of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
This rug is extra special as it incorporates two weaving techniques. The base of the rug and trellis design motif is made using the Boucherouite technique, which utilizes textile scraps, while the knot is a technique named after the Guigou region. The knot is constructed like a Flatweave, but each knot is pulled through in a reverse direction, creating a small loop effect.
This vintage rug contains 100% "live" undyed wool for the knot and textile scraps as the base, creating a confetti-like effect throughout the rug."
