The Story Behind the Weave:
This Hand-knot rug was woven by Mina.

Mina belongs to the Association Le Vieux Village, a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht. Naima, pictured, is the leader of the association.

The weave was made from 100% live wool, which the women of the association carded, spun, and dyed themselves.

In more traditional rug design the symbolism is often representative of well wishes for the artisan's life or those surrounding her. For example, the zigzag design is thought to represent a sickle which symbolizes respect in the Amazigh culture. While the abstract shapes in the black represent animals from the surrounding area that Mina lives.

Details like this give Mina's rug character that will shine in any home.
